Our research examines human learning, collaboration, and motivation. In our early work we focused on issues of knowledge transfer including: 1) identifying the cognitive and metacognitive processes underlying transfer success and failure, 2) exploring the relations between instruction, motivation, and transfer, and 3) examining social and ecological processes that support or inhibit transfer. A central goal of this work is to inform theories of instruction and promote learning and transfer in math and science. In our current work, we examine the role of mindfulness in learning and transfer and Indigenous approaches to learning.
