Dr. Perfetti publishes new book






Dr. Perfetti, in collaboration with Dr. Ludo Verhoeven of Radboud University, Nijmegen (Netherlands), acted as editor-in-chief of the newly published book entitled "Learning to Read Across Languages and Writing Systems," a compendium of cross-language research on learning to read.

Summer Undergraduate Internship Program






Manuel Meléndez, visiting from the University of Texas at El Paso, completed a study under the mentorship of Joe Stafura this summer as part of the LRDC's Summer Undergraduate Internship Program.

Dr. Perfetti receives AERA award






Dr. Perfetti was awarded the Distinguished Scholar award by the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Special Interest Group (SIG): Research in Reading and Literacy for his outstanding contributions to research in reading and literacy.

Celebration of Research






Over 350 undergraduate researchers enrolled in the First Experiences in Research program, along with the Archival Scholars Research program, presented during the 2017 Celebration of Research, a poster session which provided an opportunity for these students to showcase their semester's work.

Celebration of Research



The Celebration of Research was held on Friday, April 22, 2016 to honor nearly 400 undergraduate students as they presented the research conducted as a part of First Experiences in Research.


First Experiences in Research is a program that allows freshmen students to get involved with faculty research projects in the social sciences, natural sciences, and humanities for one or two credits.


This year, Jordan, Madeline, and Nick participated in the program and presented at the Celebration of Research!

Our PI, Dr. Charles Perfetti, was chosen to serve as the ELA/Literacy content panel lead for the Thomas B. Fordham Institute's review of national educational standards and assessments - article here.
