The Evaluation for Learning Team (EFL) has recently been awarded $104,914 for a three-year evaluation of City Charter High School. City Charter High School, located in downtown Pittsburgh, aims to prepare students for post-secondary education, training or employment.
EFL is conducting an evaluation of the innovative policies and practices the school implements, such as a year-round four-day school week and "looping" teachers. The evaluation involves annual surveying of teachers, students, and parents to assess school climate and wellbeing, as well as analysis of administrative data to examine trends in student outcomes. The EFL team's evaluation efforts will introduce more sophisticated analyses into City Charter High School's evaluation processes, including the identification of early indicators of academic struggles and opportunities for proactive student support.
The EFL Team consists of Jennifer Iriti, LRDC Research Scientist and Associate Director of Applied Practice & Partnerships, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Education and Evaluation Strategy; Brooke English, Research and Evaluation Specialist; and Danielle Lowry, LRDC Research Associate. EFL is dedicated to improving the quality and equity of educational experiences for K-20 students in and outside the classroom through evaluation.
