The LAK Dataset provides access to structured metadata from research publications in the field of learning analytics. Beyond merely publishing the data, we are actively encouraging its innovative use and exploitation as part of a public LAK Data Challenge sponsored by the European Project LinkedUp, co-located with the Learning Analytics & Knowledge Conference 2014 conference in Indianapolis, Indiana (US) in March 2014.

The CHI 2014 Learning Innovation at Scale workshop aims to bring together diverse and cross-disciplinary sources of innovation and expertise in examining the currently emerging field of online education research and practice. Paper submission deadline is January 22 (notifications by February 10). Use www.chionlinelearning.com/submission for 3-6 page submissions in extended abstract format, accompanied by your suggestions of 3-5 references/resources (with PDFs/hyperlinks) for a shared bibliography of work relevant to Online Learning. CELEST will be hosting a 10-week summer undergraduate lab intern program once again in summer 2014. The program is open to rising juniors and seniors and specifically targets females and other members of groups under-represented in the sciences. The application deadline is January 31, 2014. The 2014 Multimodal Neuroimaging Training Program coordinated by the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University, with funding from NIH, will be hosting our annual 6-week summer workshop, which will provide training in multiple imaging modalities, including DTI, functional MRI, PET, MEG/EEG, Near IR Spectroscopy and optical imaging. Participants in this workshop will receive a subsistence allowance of $2,500 (based upon eligibility) to cover meals and other education-related expenses and be provided with housing. Participants will also receive partial funds to help defray travel cost and other related expenses. The application deadline is January 31, 2014.
