Event-related Potential (ERP) Laboratory

Our ERP laboratory uses equipment from Electical Geodesics, Inc. (EGI). We use their System 200, and we record with 128 channels using their unique Geodesic Sensor Net. Data acquisition is accomplished using a Macintosh G4, which records the EEG signal, and the E-Prime experiment software run from a PC. We have several Macintosh data analysis stations which run EGI's Net Station EEG/ERP software.

Eye Tracking Laboratory

We use two kinds of eye-trackers in our lab: an ASL 501 high speed head mounted eye-tracker (pictured on left) and a stationary head eye-tracker. The head mounted eye-tracker is used for experiments investigating the time course of language comprehension using either printed text or a combination of auditory stimuli and pictures or objects.
While the stationary head eye-tracker in the lab provides more accurate data for reading research, the head mounted eye-tracker can be used to study language processing in modalities other than silent reading, such as listening and conversation, as well as include a wider range of participants, such as children. Having access to both kinds of eye-trackers in the lab allows us to compare the time course of interpretation in reading and other language tasks and investigate factors that affect them.
Behavioral Laboratory

Our behavioral lab consists of a suite of rooms, each with several computers, in which we conduct experiments. We typically record the accuracy and timing of responses to word and sentence stimuli in these experiments.
